Researches
The Foundation actively supports the creative endeavors of emerging artists and researchers through various funding opportunities. These include grants specifically designed to support in-depth study and research. In addition to financial support, the Foundation provides access to its extensive archives, a valuable source of knowledge, inspiration, and historical context. The archives include a diverse collection of documents, artworks, manuscripts, and other materials that provide insights into various artistic movements, techniques, and historical contexts. The Foundation extends its efforts to embrace the rich cultural tapestry woven by Beat Generation artists who found inspiration in the vibrant city of Tangier.
Known for its magnetic allure and historical significance, Tangier has attracted numerous artists, writers, and thinkers over the decades, including such illustrious figures as William S. Burroughs, Paul Bowles, Mohamed Choukri, and Mohammed Mrabet, among others. The city’s unique mix of European, African and Middle Eastern influences has left an indelible mark on the creative output of these artists, shaping the literary and artistic movements of the 20th century. The Foundation recognizes this cultural resonance and is committed to preserving not only the physical artifacts, but also the intangible essence of creativity that flourished in the eclectic streets of Tangier.
